Weekend Backpack Feeding Program
Our Weekend Backpack Feeding Program was designed to supplement meals for children, who depend on school breakfasts and lunches, on weekends.
Each Friday during the school year, Arizona Helping Hands supplies children who are food insecure with a pack of nutritious, shelf-stable food – enough for two lunches, two breakfasts, two snacks, two servings of pudding, and juice.
During the 2010-11 school year, the Weekend Backpack Feeding Program will distribute about 4,0000 food packs to 135 kids. This is our second year of this program. We hope to serve 500 kids by the end on the 2011-2012 school year.
